Here’s my story:
I’ve been training for 12+ years, former personal trainer, currently a banker but fitness is my life. Me and my girlfriend are trying this diet together. I am doing this for moral support for her as well as to pass on the results to people in my life who this may help. I don’t like recommending anything I have never tried. Plus I would like to get leaner. Every time I try a leaning program I cut it short due to the fear of losing size and strength. This time I will stick it out…plus Chris has a point that any strength loss…I should be able to gain back in no time. I’ve been training Muay Thai 2-3x week for cardio purposes but I will put that on hold for this.

My main concerns are:

  1. muscle loss due to large decrease in calories, I may be taking 3000+ a day.
  2. muscle loss due to decrease in weight that I lift due to short rest periods w/ this program

I look forward to posting my progress and following others’ journeys as well.

Today I did my 2nd workout. WOW!!! I could not finish it, going back tonight. I am doing the advanced program and I could not continue the next set after the 40 deadlifts. I wanted to recover some and complete it but had no time since I had to be at work. The exhaustion and airheadedness did not affect me as much as the nausea. What I think affected me is the following: 1) I’m not use to training in the morning. 2) I only had my first meal so far, and I’m use to some carbs before weight training 3) The workout itself is something I’m not used to as far as high reps, low rest…it was an eye opener.

I’ve been doing heavy weight, low reps for so long that my body is not used to high reps. Especially at 8-9 rep max, 45 sec rest, was a killer.

I’m going back tonight to finish day2. Stumbled a little today, but I look forward to the challenge and doing something completely different diet and training wise.

Glad we could help set your mind at ease in the other thread about the muscle loss worry.

We look forward to watching your progress!

Day 5. Last night was hard for me and my girlfriend on the diet. We usually look forward to going out to dinner on Friday nights. She almost wanted to quit on me, but I’m keeping her on track. She’s ok now. After the gym last night we just walked around Walmart to kill some Friday night time then went home, had our last shake and watched a movie. Looking forward to our solid meal tomorrow.

Day 9. Weigh in was 180 lbs, down 5 lbs from start. My girlfriend 130, down 6 lbs from start.

Day 15, 2 days ago…my weigh in is 176 down 4 lbs from last week and 9 lbs from start 2 weeks ago.
My girlfriend is 125 5 lbs down from last week and 11 lbs from start 2 weeks ago.

Good going so far! I’m surprised your girl friend has lost more weight than you though. I’d expect a guy to lose more. Unless your girlfriend has got more excess than you. Good job to both of you though, keep up the good work!

You have a pretty solid base to start. Any update pics or measurements for mid-progress?

End of V-Diet 10/26/2010. 171 lbs, 14 lb loss. I feel more fit and athletic, and don’t think I lost too much muscle. My max strength I’m sure decreased some, but my muscular endurance and overall conditioning improved. I believe I have a good base now to go on a muscle gaining program.

Back. Same day just different shorts.

Don’t know how to make side by side.
