V-Diet Round 2

#1

So Once More Into Hell.

The Velocity Diet worked great for me last time but it did not quite finish everything I wanted to change both physically and mentally. The millions of voices in my head telling me to eat junk that I’ve learned to ignore since moving from 350lbs down to 240lbs were really quieted by the time I finished the diet and ended up at about 210 lbs after the transition phase.

I kept the weight off for a few months but moving countries to go back to school I put on about 10lbs because I got out of the habits I learned from the V-Diet. So I’m sitting at 220 lbs now and the goal is to break 200 lbs at least, ideally getting down to 195 to 185lbs. When I succeed I will be the lightest I’ve been in about 15 years.

I’m planning to do all the little things that I did last time, like telling everyone so if I failed I would have to answer to over 30 people and writing my daily weight on my hand every morning.

Didn’t do a log last time but I read everything on the forums daily, I have more free time this time not working 2 full time jobs so I figured I’d give it a shot.

28 Days of Hell

Hey Brick Wall

Just a quick message to wish you good luck and hope you keep this thread updated so we can keep track of your progress.

I’m thinking of starting the diet myself but need to get paid first before considering purchasing all the stuff I need.

So Morning Day 1

Measurements:

Weight: 219.6 lbs
Love Handles: 40"
Thighs: R22" L22"
Calf: R16.5" L16"
Chest: 43"
Upper Abs: 36"
Shoulders: 48"
Upper Arms Unflexed: R15" L14"
Neck: 16.5"
Waist: 40.5"

I dont 100% trust my own measuring skills but it will even out by the end.

I still sit 24 inches in total less, than when I started the diet the first time on Jan. 13th even though I’ve put on a few inches since the end of the transition phase.

I’ll be starting the program with the Wednesday Advanced Workout since I just followed Gus last time and know the routine. Would have preferred to start on a Monday for continuity, but the delivery came on Monday evening. Will be doing 1 hr of NEPA every day, which is 15 min more than last time. Will try to do a mix of treadmill and outside walking.

Photos later on, have to take them this afternoon and figure out how to post them.

Will also see how the workout flows at a much busier gym.

HEY!

good luck.

#5

Hey wecndo, Thanks for the good wishes.

Work out #1 done and in the books. 2 shakes in and 1 serving of Surge down. Still trying to sort this all out, seemed like I planned it more out last time and rushed it a little this time.

Workout was ok, need to work on my DB Hang Clean. Substituted the Front Squat with a Goblet squat. Since I am in a big commercial gym now I will have to make a few sacrifices even if I am training at the less busy times. Will be sticking to the advanced program since I remember it even though it also brings up horrible memories of last time. Just need to get in a good rhythm with the distribution of the shakes and doing the exercises.

Did roughly 45 minute walk home (a few stops in there) from work and will maybe walk back tonight which should be about 35 minutes, but I am worried that I may do too much cardio.

I had thought of doing the over 35 lbs to lose plan but then I think I would have had to drop down to one less shake a day and might have been stuck with not enough protein. To get 220g I need at least 4 shakes plus everything else, and sticking under 1250 cal on non lifting days would have been too rough. Just going to do like last time and maybe I can crack 200 by week 3 or 4 and 195 lbs by end of transition.

Pictures tonight I hope.

#6

hungry!

#7

So after recalculating every thing base on the brands of peanut butter and flax I bought here are my totals (no one cares but I really want to eat so I’ll just type instead).

Non-Training Days
Cal 1538 (calculated to be 1560)
Pro 210 (a little lower than 220, might find a higher protein Peanut Butter)
Carb 54
Fibre 20 (little low, Flax I got not as fibre rich as it should be and a little high in calories)
Fat 52

Training Days
Cal 1878 (calculated to be 1875, so a touch over)
Protein 235 (better total)
Carb 100
Fibre 20
Fat 54.5

Thinking I need a slightly lower calorie Flax as the calories on workout days leave no room for fibre supplements that the lower fibre total might need. Could not really manage any more Metabolic Drive shakes and still stay under, so might need to fit in more protein from the peanut butter when I run out.

Still hungry so might dig into shake number 3 in 30 minutes, leaving 1 before work and then one after work (the big water, peanut butter, flax and Chocolate Metabolic Drive pudding).

Grind On

#8

Day two all done.

Hard but not killer. Still need to work on the distribution of the feedings. Workout number two tomorrow will be interesting as I think I’ll try to get it in earlier in the day since the gym will be busy.

I did take pictures but I don??t think I’ll post them until the end of the first week since the first ones were scary.

Down 4.2 lbs after day one. I know its not real weight loss but its keeping in line with what happened last time. I was down 10lbs after day six last time so I hope that I can keep up the same pace. I know that its not the best idea to weigh in ever day but I know that a day without a change is not the end of the world. Plus I’m writing my weight on my hand every day to remind me. Don??t feel too bad, just a little short on sleep at the moment.

#9

Down 8.6 Lbs after only 3 days. I know that some of the loss is “water weight” however since I did not really put on any weight in the months after my first V-Diet, which included lots of food (healthy and fibrous types) I wonder what ever happened to the mysterious “water weight.”

Body is tired from workout number 2 on Friday, likely from the slightly new movements that I’ve not done regularly for months (clean and Rev Crunches).

Off to work.
This V-Diet thing is a piece of cake sometimes, which reminds me. I WOULD LOVE A PEICE OF CAKE RIGHT NOW!

#10

So its Sunday and since starting on Wednesday I am down 10.4 Lbs. 4 days and 10.4 lbs is crazy, last time I had only dropped 8 lbs after this many days.

Am quite worried about losing muscle and what the real content of my loss is (as mentioned in my other unanswered post). Thinking of throwing in some BCAA’s to help out. Also going to pick up a greens type product today I think.

HSM of carrots, broccoli and salmon tonight. Actually would wait a few more days however I dont think I’ll be free enough to cook properly over the next few days.

#11

I would throw in the BCAA’s as you mentioned, you have nothing to lose.

A $30 bottle (250 pills) last you 20.83 days.

#12

so its now almost done day 7, ate on sunday which was ok but I think I should have maybe waited for a full 7 days (mostly cause I wish I could eat right now). Am having a moral arguement with myself trying to fight off the urge to cheat a little. Strange how it would be easier when I was on normal food but now I can prevent myself from breaking down. Hopefully a trait I can keep.

Down 10.5lbs after 6 4/5 days, measurements tomorrow. Photos when I’m done.

Grinding on, only a couple of hours till Choco Peanut butter heaven (last shake).

#13

Down 13 lbs, on day 11.

I am currently questioning my sanity. I feel like shit I’m bored but dont feel like I have the energy or desire to socialise and I’m getting a cold. I am due the HSM tomorrow, so I’ll hope that makes thigns better. Last few days were ok in terms of energy and the workout went well. First real sets of full hand clap push ups too.

Still think I’m an iddiot. Well I guess I’m only 2 1/2 weeks left, if thats a consolation. I’f I hadnt told anyone I could cheat and eat right now but I told every (obviously for this situation). No one but I would know which is why I wont break. But man this is hell (again).

#14

Down 14 lbs as of this morning (219.6-215.6) after day 11.

So despite fighting a cold I cooked and ate my HSM #2, fearful I wouldn’t taste it. It went well, still think baked organic carrots are insanely good (onion and carrots with olive oil, salt and pepper wrapped in foil and baked for 40 min).

Had cherries before the meal since last time I ran out of space in the belly for the strawberries I planned for desert last week. The steak this time was somehow more satisfying than the salmon last time. Made a great marinade for it full of all kinds of spice. Hopefully this jolt of normal food helps the cold, since things have been getting a lot better in terms of feeling like crap every second.

still not 100% sure what comes next once the VDiet is done, will start a thread once I’m closer to the transition. Could I for the first time in 7 years think about actually putting on some muscle and not getting smaller?

Could be, though Shugart recommends that FFBs should get real lean first and I’m thinking I’m going to be very low teens BF% (based on crap machines at work) when I’m done so who knows.

#15

Well still at about 206. which is 13.6 lbs in 13 days, which is 0.2 more than the pace I was on last time.

Its amazing that most people are just amazed that anyone loses weight and they say you’re not over weight, why are you on a diet. Well my answer is that I worked too hard to get down from near 350 lbs to where I am now t accept anything less that extreme results. I don??t want to look like everyone. I want to look my best and my best isn??t reflective (not anymore anyway) of someone who accepts the average.

I really, really want to eat, not craving anything other than for some reason chicken breast and brown rice.

The creaminess of the Metabolic Drive is getting to me a little bit, plus I think I’m getting bad
breath a little.

It’s cool to know that if I get to 200lbs I’ll have lost 50lbs since mid January (including the 5-10lbs I put on while moving home to Toronto).

Grind on everyone, the light is there and it gets closer every day.

#16

as far as the creaminess goes, have you tried just adding more water? I add ~5-6oz for each scoop plus ice to mine, but I like mine thick and creamy, makes me feel more full.

#17

Cheers TKD for the advice. I am not using a blender on this round of V-Dieting, but still I often find its hard to get a pastiness / creamy taste out of my mouth.

So day 17 is mostly done. Looking forward to some quality fights tonight, however watching TV for prolonged times without the option of a snack or even food is a little daunting. Have a potential work event tomorrow (weather and laziness permitting) that might be a little too much of a challenge to me V-Diet resolve. So as I say when I am trying to coach people in losing weight, I may just avoid it.

Its sad that so many things seem to just slide, including social stuff while I am on the V-Diet (don??t know if this is common). I just don??t feel like being around food or booze since I cant enjoy it, so I’ve sadly become a hermit obsessively checking the V-Diet forums to entertain myself. Only 11 days left to go and the HSM is tomorrow.

thinking I might marinade my food today for tomorrow. Energy levels are pretty good and hunger is often under control but next week I have some really hard and long days working 9-11 hrs in a day that are a test. May have to have 4-5 single serving shakes to make it through rather than the normal 2 scoopers.

Down 15.4 lbs as of this morning, with 20 as my goal (would love 24-25 like last time and am at a similar pace but who knows if its harder now that I have less to lose).

Would be well worth it if I could finish up at around 190bs from 219, but only time will tell.
Think I??m off to shop for a steak or chicken for tomorrow, not sure yet.

Grind on through each day everyone.

#18

So after a long time away from writing I can return with great news, that with only 2 days left as of tomorrow I will be done with VDiet #2. Broke the 200lbs barrier for the first time in atleast 10 years, if not 12-14 years on DSaturday by weighing in at 199.8lbs.

Last Vdiet workout tomorrow, in some respects will miss it, but had a crappy HSM today (family function). So Wednesday will be sweet.
Before and after pictures on Thursday.

Grind on Fellow VDieters.

#19

Hey Brick Wall, Thanks for posting your V-Diet progress. I’m on Day #2 of my grind and I’m still feeling pretty good. I like your attitude, and perseverance! Can’t wait to see pictures!

#20

Hmmm… good log but man I’m surprised you had any trouble at all with a second round of the V-Diet. I really want to hop on it again because it worked so well, but then I’d be flat broke for the school year. I never had a problem with the creaminess, but I probably was using almost double the water for each shake. I stirred them all as well.

After I started to notice results, my drive on the V-Diet exploded and I had zero cravings for anything. I just finished the transition sunday and havn’t put any weight back on. Even the mysterious water weight has yet to be seen. I don’t have cravings for any of the sweet crap I use to eat or anything really unhealthy. Even pizza isn’t the wonder food it once was to me. One thing I do have a craving for is actually salt. For some reason anything really salty makes me want to eat a ton, but then I just drink a bunch of water till I fill up.

I’m with you on not accepting any less than the best. Normal just isnt acceptable and normal is fat. Keep up the fight. Everyone is just jealous to be quite honest. I feed off everyone’s negativity and telling me I can’t/shouldn’t/won’t make/do it.
