V-Diet.... Round #1.5

Sooooo I tried the V-Diet (V2.0) back in November and fell off the wagon at 2 weeks. I somehow made it through Thanksgiving and a funeral party (irony?)… but on my third day out of town with friends partying, eating out… etc… and I couldn’t hang. I was really upset that I didn’t complete because am pretty well known for my ridiculous amounts of will power.

Well… failure has finally eaten me up enough that I said… time to head back to T-Nation. I was pretty excited when I saw the huge “V-Diet V3.0” banner. What an awesome program! I spent a few weeks just looking up info on V2.0… having everything in one spot is amazing!

About 3 years back I kicked a nasty 40lbs (down to 195 from 235) that I packed on in a low point in my life. I’ve been back on track for the most part since then… but I’m not at all happy with my body. I can’t keep a steady routine at the gym… and my eating habits fluctuate like crazy. For the last year or so I’ve bounced around from 195 to the low 180’s. This last month I’ve been feeling… BLAH… I clocked in the other day at 200! DAMNIT!

My goals are to kick some of this damn body fat and put some muscle on me! I’ve got pretty strong legs because everything active I do involves legs… but I have chicken arms and some chesticles! I need to kick the bad eating habits and get into a steady workout routine. Working in an office is a HUGE pain in the ass… talk about toxic people… but I’m ready to take this on full fledged… and finish better than ever!

I started this morning… and to be honest… I feel like shit. If I remember correctly… by day 3 I should be golden!

Just posting here daily will help you stay compliant to the diet this time, so update often! Lots of supportive people here doing the diet with you.

All right… day 4 is here so I figured I’d give an update!

Day 1 - Workout and eating went well. I was choking down the shakes… but I made it through.

Day 2 - Still choking down the shakes. HOT-ROX made me feel like Tyrone Biggums.

Day 3 - Workout nearly killed me. I had to run to work early but refused to miss my morning gym session… and I made the mistake of not ‘eating’ before. I need to find a substitute for the RDL as it kills my lower back (previous snowboarding accident). I’ve even tried the RDL motion with no weight… and it just rubs me WRONG. Normally my lower back only hurts when I’m sitting… so this is interesting. It could just be poor form… so I’m gonna play around with it a bit.

Day 4 (today) - Feeling great! =)

I’ve been doing this with leftovers from Round 1 and my shipment from Biotest came in yesterday! Going to try out the chocolate and banana so I can decide what else I want to order to complete this thing. I know Chris considers half orders a sign of failure… but I promise after I try the chocolate and banana… I’ll place my next order tonight.

On the down side of things… I’ve got some obstacles ahead of me.

  1. Tomorrow I’m going to a concert… which would normally involve me consuming a fair amount of alcohol. Going to have to stay strong… probably just pound a shake before I go in.

  2. Next weekend I’m going to a wedding. It is on my HSM day… so I’m going to find out what they are serving for dinner. Once again… alcohol must be avoided.

  3. The week after the wedding I have an outside software vendor coming into work from the East coast to do upgrades. They will be here all week and we generally go to lunch every day.

I’m not too worried about any of it… just needed to vent. I can’t wait for my HSM!

I figured I’d give an update while I’m sitting here at work with nothing to do. As you can probably tell from the stats above, I feel great! I went out of town this weekend to a wedding and still managed to stick to my diet 99.9%. I have to admit… I snuck a couple vodka/tonics in at the wedding.

For my HSM I went to a restaurant on the pier in Ventura with a few friends. I ordered seared ahi tuna (really spicy… yummy) and a salad with shrimp, crab, avacado, cucumbers and hard boiled eggs. Then I stole a bunch of veggies from my gf’s plate.

Between walking around, dancing and alone time with the gf… I got plenty of NEPA in. Then when we woke up on Sunday morning I made her do the V-Burn challenge with me… muhahaha. I made it through MUCH easier this week. I don’t have the exact numbers with me… but the first week took about 24 minutes… yesterday was about 18.

I’ve been avoiding lunch all week with this vendor… but I was stuck with them all day today… and they got hungry. I went to lunch and enjoyed my shake while they all stuffed their faces.

+1 point for my self control!

I’m out of town again this weekend… and don’t have any scale/measuring stuff. I weighed in yesterday at 183. One more week of the tough stuff!

I’ve had 3 shakes today and a lot of water… but I was interested in weighing in anyways… 180.8 =)
