Today’s Training - 31-Jan-2011
20 Reps each

Bent Over Row - 185 - 5,5,5,5
Overhead Squat - 135 - 5,5,5,5 (haven’t done this since high school, so not a bad weight, will go up soon though)
Dip - BW + 35 - 5,5,5,5
Ab Rollout - all 5s,

Testing the waters here, but I feel pretty confident I can start actually adding weight, was still able to finish in under 30 mins, so works for me! I look forward to NEPA tomorrow morning.

Looking forward to following your progress!

Any specific questions for me, be sure to stick them in the <a href="http://tnation.t-nation.com/free_online_forum/diet_performance_nutrition_bodybuilding_velocity?pageNo=1&s=forumsNavTop"target=“new”>Ask Chris forum so I’ll be sure to see them.

Day 2
Crappy outside, so no outside NEPA this morning, but about an hour of yoga… Yeah I can’t believe I am saying it either, but, I felt great afterward, was a great way to wake up and I think it fits the guidelines for NEPA.

Diet is going about as I figured for just day 2. Feeling pretty empty this morning, but I am sure that will change as the day goes on.

Looking forward to tomorrow’s training.

Day 3 02-Feb

Great workout today. It’s been a while since I truly thought I would yack during a workout, but put the deads in the middle of the thing and I was ready to call some dinos! Anyway, diet is a bit rough, the guys at my shop are constant with questions and bringing donuts and all forms of crap around… Holding strong with the wife!

Today’s Workout:

Pull Ups(wide) - BW(278lbs) - 8,7,5,5,4,4,3,3,4
Incline DB Bench - 70s - 10,10,10,10 - a bit easy but the last set was a real struggle
Deadlift! (my favorite) - 225 - 8,8,8,8,8 - thought I was going to yack, awesome!
Barbell Curl - 85 - 10,10,10,10 - pretty good at the end, can’t believe I was doing squat rack curls!
Hanging Leg Raise - BW - 10,10,10,10

I look forward to NEPA tomorrow, think my legs could use the rest…

Vicks under the nose, a sugar-free cough drop, peppermint tea or lemon zinger tea seems to kill my desire for even the toughest temptations.

Also, if you can time your shakes just before “crap” time, that takes care of it, too.

You’ll reach a point where you pity the people who have so little self-control…

Then they have the nerve to ask, “Why am I fat?”

BECAUSE YOU EAT LIKE A HOG!

Thanks 'reactiontm’
I think my reaction to them is more due to my just starting this diet. However the Vicks sounds like a plan…

NEPA day today.
Took a note from Chris and his article on Dr. Lowery.

Did 45 mins on a treadmill (it’s like 5 degrees outside!)
4 mph, 5 incline, 50lb weighted vest, great start to a morning.
Good stretch after.

Feeling ‘strong’ this morning, both in diet stability and body.

Looking forward to training tomorrow and even more so to the V-burn and my steaks to follow!

Ahh the frozen tundra!

But, it brought good things, the parents came to watch the kids so the wife and I could head to the gym… awesome!

Front Squat - 185 - 8,8,9 (Haven’t done front squat since high school, so not bad I think)
Bench Press (close grip) - 225 - 6,6,4,4,3,2 (Felt good here, nice pop on last sets, just died at the end)
Chins - BW - 7,7,4,5,2 (Still sore from Pull Ups on Wed., but felt good)
Push Press - 135 - 8,8,9 (Pop and go!, will add more weight next time)

I think I need to add weight all around, but that will come with a bit more comfortability with the workout scheme.

Ok so I though I was in decent shape. Been doing pretty good at lifting / running for a good while now… Then I did the V-Burn.
1st - I could not do the handstand pushups - I got around 7 total through the first two rounds, but had to finish each and the subsequent rounds with V-Pushups from toes, still sucked!

Anyway, finished in 27 mins. If nothing else it is a starting point.

HSM was so amazing! I was dreaming about it all week and it so lived up to my expectation. I attempted to bump the ‘Show Us Your HSM’ Thread with pics of it…

Steak. Wife made the amazing marinade, homemade, no sugar, no nothing bad, jalapeÃ?±os I don’t know what else, it was great

Salad. Wife made the garlic vinaigrette, so amazing, had some kick as well.

Green Beans. Bacon wrapped (yeah thats right) little pepper, blanched, baked w/bacon.

Anyway, good day, day 6 in the books, I am going to take my utterly exhausted and sore ass to sleep…

Missed yesterday’s log, not in the I messed up the diet way, just in the I had a rough one and it was better I didn’t spew about it way.

Yesterday was hard.
Watching family and friends dine on queso, 9-layer dips, sausage and cheese, it was hard.
I could not even enjoy the game (not that it was that exciting anyway… drunk ass Ben)
But it was hard, got through by the grace of God and my wife who was there to support our efforts, Thank You baby.

Anyway… Today is different, but not really. I feel honestly annoyed, either at myself or someone else. I cannot understand why the damn food affects me so. I had a great workout, I mean I really nailed it this morning, jacked up the weights a bit, but ran through it, felt good. Yet, the drive to work I was thinking about food, the Taco Bell Volcano Burrito, the new Burger King jalapeno cheddar burger. I can just hope this V-Diet will at least relieve some of this angst, it’s distracting from my life!

Bent Over Row - 195 - 6,6,6,5 (need to add weight next time)
Overhead Squat - 135 - 5,6,6,5 (shoulders never really recovered from last week, so this was tough on them)
Dips - BW + 30 - 5,6,6,6 (can add more weight to this next week)
Ab-Wheels - BW - 6,6,5,4 (think i will use the weight vest next week)

I hope and believe this angst is just a phase, I’m sure it will pass, just wanted to express it.

I’ve felt annoyed, edgy, slightly irritable quite often on the diet as well.

And for me, it hasn’t been about food, or not having it.

Could be a lot of things, but I just channel that into staying on course and doing the workouts as well as I can.

Whatever it is, it’s worth the price.

#13

I feel better today, not necessarily cured, just better. Food is still a constant stress in my mind, but I am handling it a but better today.

It is indeed worth the price.

I look forward to this weeks’ HSM - gonna be sweet and my family’s support, i’m good now. ready to hit it hard tomorrow!

you are so freakin funny!! you always have something funny to say.

Gotta be honest here ‘powermerrie’ I don’t really think this is that damn funny. I have been back and forth and in every shape possible, fat, not so fat, crazy shape good and extremely obese in my life. people know why they are fat, in fact I don’t think I have ever heard someone ask “Why am I fat?” most just need encouragement, hard love at times yes, but there is nothing positive/helpful about this comment, just my opinion.

Today’s log

Great workout - up on all lifts

Pull-Ups (wide) - BW - 7,5,4,4,4,3,5 (1 less set than last week!)
Incline DB Press - 85ea - 10,10,8,8,6 (all weights between my last weight of the 70s and these were broken, kinda glad though, I think i will jack it up to 95s next week!)
Deads! - 275 - 8,8,8,8,8 (OUCH! up 50lbs from last week but felt great!, gonna go up again next week)
Barbel Curl - 95 - 12,10,10,10 (up 30lbs from last week, need to go up more)
Hanging leg raise - BW - 12,10,10,10 (I admit I kinda phoned this one in, left the deads on the mat and struggled with the rest, will add more weight next week to hold in my feet)

either way, feeling pretty good. ready for the rest of the day

Figured I would go ahead and post today’s log.

Did about an hour worth of yoga and balance stuff this morning for NEPA
Very ‘NOT INTENSE’ but I was exhausted so it felt hard to stand as is.

feeling really weak today, but I am going to get my head in the game for tomorrow mornings’ training…
Gonna jump the weights again.

Been watching tons of food porn… MvF, DDD etc… don’t know why, just want to watch it constantly.

#17

We need to replace food porn with farming…ha! Side note: NEPA isn’t suppose to be intense babe, so you’re fine, I promise…oh and I know we said no gifts for V-day but…What if we did V-CHALLENGE day gifts…like a foam roller? I really want one and it could be fun…

#18

Today’s training -

Was tired, but got it goin real quick with a bit of a jump rope warm up.

Front Squat - 225 - 5,5,5,4,4,3 (up 40lbs, good weight, was real tough)
Close Grip Bench - 225 - 6,6,6,4,3 (might attempt to add more weight next time depends on how i am feeling, was pretty gassed from fsquat)
Chins - BW - 7,5,6,4,3 (these are still pretty tough for me even with just my bw)
Push Press - 185 - 5,6,5,4,5 (yeah so really tweaked my back on the very last rep, thought I was going to lose it, but lied on floor for about a minute, still tender, but feels much better, I need to be more careful and incorporate some rev. hypers into my training again soon.)

Looking forward to V-Burn, and we did order the foam roller (from EFTS!)

Saturday’s Log - missed it (the log that is) V-Burn Day!

OK I would just like to say that I am a bloomin’ idiot sometimes, I didn’t see that there were 7 circuits on the Advanced V-Burn. Only did 5 last week. So this is how it went…

Did my first 5 rounds… feeling pretty good, was able to get a ton more handstand pushups in. Finished 6 minutes faster than the previous week…

I drop, I am heaving, I walk around, try to encourage my wife and her friend doing the burn with us… then as I go back to write my time down it hits me… I have two freakin more rounds to do.

so I knocked them out the best I could, barely stopped at all, legs and chest burning, but got them finished!
And then it was time to eat!!! I will post the food again in the V-Life group and the ‘SHow Us Your HSMs’ threads.

Today’s training - after Sunday relax was great!

I was really tired this morning, but the cold air was a great pick me up!

Bent Over Row - 205 - 5,5,5,5 (felt good with weight, was a bit skid-dish with my lower back, but felt ok)
Overhead Squat - 145 - 5,5,5,5 (I can’t seem to get right with this one, but still went up in weight)
Dips - BW + 35s - 5,5,5,5 (need to get a chain or something, holding the weight with my feet really isnt working that well)
Ab Rollouts + Rev Hyper - BW, +10 - 5,5,5,5 (this hurt today, I supered the rev.hypers to help with my back, may all be in my head, but those seem to help my feel more stable in my lower back)

overall a good workout… Still sore from this weekend and look forward to some yoga or something like that tomorrow morning.
