The Ab Wheel Made Me Do It

#1

…You would do it too, believe me.

I’m at a loss of how to transition from that. If you don’t get it, I’m really quite sorry. If you’re up for learning, it’s somewhere within last year’s log of awesomeness.

…Really, it’s a great piece of literature…almost won a prize

Yes, I did the V-Diet last year about this same time, and loved the results.

Over the past year, I have continued to eat relatively healthy - I love to cook, so I’ve come up with some damn awesome shit. Brief bio: 25 years old, 2nd B.S. degree student for Health Fitness Specialist at ECU, waitress part time, full time Southern Belle Defyer/Representor of the North. Basically, I just moved South - things have been hectic switching from working full time to school full time (again) and it’s been a real adjustment. I’ve still worked out diligently, but didn’t really set goals or measure anything.

Training history: I’ve tried a bunch of different shit, mostly full body workouts or a combination of 2 full body, 1 upper, 1 lower a week. Energy systems work thrown in were applicable. As of late, my current estimated max’s on lifts are:
-Bench: 130
-Squat: 208 (highest tested 225x2)
-Deadlift (Sumo):207
-Deadlift: 191*
-Military Press: 96

*I stopped deadlifting since my last V-Diet for 2 reasons: I suck at it, and the subsequent suckage irritates a sciatic nerve problem I acquired…so does running, but really I’m ok with that.

Numbers aren’t THAT impressive [for this site], but I just recently started with those lifts again about 3-4 week ago. I missed them :frowning:

Soooooo, 3/14 is the day…oh hot damn, 14 is my favorite number - I didn’t even realize this. I am going to bed here in a bit, and will measure, weigh, and have a sultry photo shoot with myself when I wake up.

Soooo, I know people out there take a picture and say “Hey look at all my supplements!” That’s totally not what this is. I was unpacking and thought of this great idea to build a perfectly symmetrical tower with them - kind of how when you were a kid and you had extra blankets and readily available cushions lying around and you decide to build a fort, then take pictures of it. So really, look at my tower, it’s a pretttttty admirable fortress.
It’s really been there for 3 weeks…minus the candles
and the gate
and the no fat chicks sign

Deep into the depths of my soul…
I recently went to the Southern Powerlifting Federation’s Brute Strength Classic meet in Norfolk, VA, at the super badass powerlifting gym. My man competed (and won) his class. I had so much fun watching and meeting some of the people there, that I decided that I needed, yes needed to compete as well.

Over the past couple years, without reallly putting much effort in, I have managed to build up some decent muscle/strength. If I try hard[er] I know I can get really strong.

That being said, I need too drop weight classes at some point, so here I am (plus, I really like the mental clarity that comes with the diet, I’m ridiculously busy most days of the week, and I love the banana bread milkshake I will have for breakfast every morning). I hope that the diet will bring me down to, or close to the class I hope to compete, then I can focus on getting strong beginning in May, and be ready to compete in the fall.

Sound like a plan?! I’m pumped. I’m pumped also that I’ve finally gotten my deadlift form to an acceptable state.

Recently, Nate and I went to Jamaica (just returned 4 days ago) and indulged in food, sugary drinks, and lots of laziness…really the longest time I have gone without any type of workout in about 2 years. It was the.best.time.ever. Dude, if I died there, I’d have died happy, with a Dirty Banana in my hand.

Tonight (last night?) I had a HUGE bacon chili cheeseburger with mushrooms, onions, ketchup, mustard, mayo, tomato, and lettuce (is it weird that I’m ashamed to have eaten lettuce on it?)…then unwilling threw up a portion of it, lol.

Also, throughout the day Saturday I decided that I was allowed to eat as many cookies as I wanted. See, I have an obsession with baking, and normally I just take shit to work, and bribe my coworkers/supervisors for when the time comes that I need a small favor. I’m a waitress, and anyone that has ever done that type of work knows how much it sucks to want to leave, yet get held up having to do one last stupid thing that really doesn’t serve a purpose (i.e. turning the handles of the coffee mugs to all face toward the left). I remember eating 6 cookies throughout the day. But, it very well may have been 7. It is most likely 7, I mean I really forget things all the time - I probably won’t remember typing this.

I recently forgot how to use a fork - and chew - but that’s another issue.

Now that I think about that…it’s not necessary at this point…Holla

Shortly after this picture was taken, that man in the background, on the right, in the sneakers (the Social director for the afternoon) was having a contest where he was just giving away bottles of rum (not that it wasn’t already an all inclusive resort).

He announces: “The first female to come over here and drink 2 beers wins a bottle of rum!”

You better believe it took me about 20 seconds to run around the pool and 10 seconds to down those beers.
*About a half hour later, I proceed to spill the drink I am currently holding in my hand.
**About 5 hours later, Nate proceeds to shatter the bottle of rum

Cool, I get to be the first one to post in your log!

I can definitely vouch for her 225x2 squat, as well as her 10 seconds to chug two beers. I personally think she had 3 reps at 225 in her, and definitely could have hit 3 beers in 10 seconds, but I think I would have been carrying her up afterwards if either of those had happened, so I guess it’s for the best.

I guess you’re starting a week ahead of me. That’s going to make your first transition week very awkward since you will be eating every day and I won’t. I may have to turn off AIM and stop answering your texts for that week  haha

Sorry about the rum!

Sooo, I wake up to do my measurements and my tape is missing, yup missing (see, I said I forget things). In an attempt to improvise, and the lack of any string in my place, I used streamers to measure, and then followed up with a tape measure. On the bright side, in the quest to find said tape measure I stumbled upon $73 in a ceramic mug my sister made for me. I remember putting it there take on a trip up to DC at some point, the rest is a bit blurry since I go there often.

3/14/2010
Weight: 164.2
Neck: 14.1
Below Breasts: 13.7
Waist @ navel: 36.7
Hips: 44.9
R Thigh: 25.25
R Calf: 15.75
R Bicep: 34

I have huge hips and ass-age - oh well! And, I’m not proud of chopping out my face, it really is a rather pleasant sight outside of the waking window.

The pictures…yeah, I’m tan right now…Jamaica will do that to a broad

$73? Nice! Now you can buy a new tape.

And you have 34" guns huh? And only a 13.7" chest? Weird! I don’t remember you being that out of proportion!

Clearly I’ve made a typo! Unfortunately, I am sitting next to you, which puts me about 4 hours from where I wrote my original measurements. Corrections will come Friday.

Transitioning from there, as to why I’m not at my NC home - my Grandfather passed away, and I have to head back up to Buffalo for a few days. This may make week 1 a bit harder than I had planned, since my family pretty much hated this diet last year. But, hopefully, they will be cool about it, considering the circumstances.

It was weird. I always wonder how people throw up the shakes, since they basically fulfill a childhood dream of being able to drink milkshakes for every meal everyday. Today, after talking to my mom, and having time to think about it, I almost threw up the shake I had drank. Then again, it was a completely different circumstance.

Oh well, I’m in DC now, and heading to Buffalo in the morning.

Workout 1, Week 1

30 seconds rest

Front Squat: 130
5 4 3 3 2 2 1
Assisted Chin Up: -50
5 5 4 3 2 1
Dumbbell Bench: 50*
5 4 4 4 3
Ab Wheel:
5 5 5 5

*Hi, yes that was 2 50lb DBs, not 2 25lb DBs…I’m a badass, I know

I’m doing my NEPA right now. Yes, now, as I type this. I rig my computer to the treadmill. It saves me time.

I also made it from Reagan National Airport to Niagara Falls in 7 hours, and miraculously only stopped to pee once - another great feat on this diet.

Condolences

On a lighter note, anytime I see NEPA, all i think of is North Eastern Pennsylvania, which in turn makes me think of Old Forge Pizza, which is absolutely deslish and serves only to add insult to injury

Anytime I hear Pennsylvania, I think chocolate.
Thanks

Is this your way of telling me that I shouldn’t talk to you for this whole week - you know, so you don’t brag about eating real food?

I JUST noticed the water aerobics going on in the background.
The 10:30 a.m. water aerobics.
This picture is THAT much better.

It is day 3. I have to state this because I had temporarily lost track. That means that I have 25 more days. The wake for my Grandpa was today, and inbetween my family got together at my aunts house for food - lots of food - it was tough, but I just told everyone I had schoolwork to do and went into the other room while they ate.

On another note, it’s like 60 degrees here, in March, which is awesome. I bet they get a mad snowstorm next week. ha!

Workout 2, Week 1
40 reps, 45s rest, 8-9RM

Reverse Lunge: 40lb DBs
9 9 8 7 4 3

DB Bent Over Row: 30lb DBs
9 8 7 7 5 5

Push Press: 35lb DBs**
8 7 5 5 2
30lb DBs
2 4 4 3

BB Curl: 45lb
9 8 7 6 5 5

Reverse Crunch: Slant Board, about 35 degrees
9 9 7 7 5 3

**So, I started off strong with the 35s, but then even in the 2nd and 3rd set, I felt like I was going to drop them on my face. I just couldn’t put them up anymore, and had to lower the weight.

Basically I felt like I was going to die by the 21st set of reverse lunges. No DOMS, I was sore while already working out. But, it felt like a good workout, and took my mind off everything else that went on this morning.

Tomorrow, I make the 11 hour drive back to Greenville, NC - from Buffalo, NY…ughhhhhh.

Oh, and a small comment on the gym in which I lifted. Normally I go to Gold’s, and yes, I complain about the fruittards there. But, this gym, Fitness 19, takes the cake. My cousin goes there, and was able to get me in for the cost I would have paid in gas, had I decided to drive to Gold’s, so I took him up on the offer. ONE squat rack. NO cages, NO stretching area, NO freaking locker room. Don’t worry though, they had TVs on the treadmills and ellipticals.

Day 5

I’ve lost track of what day it actually is in the world, not the diet, but the world. After vacation and then having to go home, and all the driving, my body is confused.

Advice: don’t ever go on a roadtrip, especially alone, while on this diet. It gives you all the time in the world to think about how hungry you are. And you are so bored, and there are so many billboards for food. Gawd. Good thing I found this adapter that turns my AC port into an electrical socket, because I was able to plug in my little blender while driving…for 12 hours…

THEN trying to get out of your car the day after doing 40 lunges per leg is borderline impossible. I’m still baffled as to how I pulled it off.

Is it cheating on the diet to sit there with a bowl of chocolate cake batter (homemade, mind you) and just inhale until you feel like you’re high? I hope not, because I just got done doing that.

This day was a drag. It wasn’t hard, just tiring. I’m glad to be back in NC, at home. However, my home is covered in piles of SHIT because I have the DIRTIEST roommate ever. Ugh, I’m not even a neat freak either. But there comes a point when enough is enough - and I think that happened today.

If there is a brawl, don’t worry, I will win…unless she starts throwing used feminine products at me - then I’ll run. Oh yes, she has those lying around her bathroom [that we don’t share]. Barf.

Cake: I had this Guinness cake I was going to make for the girls at work for St. Patty’s day. It may be late, but I made it, and I will post pictures when it’s done. It smells delicious!

#19

true story on your roommate being dirty. I was going to bring up the used products item, but it seems that you already did. She is awful.

And its weird that you found something that could convert AC into an electrical socket. Since all US electrical sockets are now AC anyway, I find it weird that you would need it. Just kidding. I suppose you meant DC. Its ok though, girls aren’t supposed to be good at math or science

Keep up the awesome work! Only a couple more days till HSM.

Girls are also not supposed to be using the same weights as big strong men on reverse lunges. It’s ok though, I’ll really try not to think less of you
