Substitutes for Squats and Deadlifts?

My favorite exercise used to be the deadlift, with squats not far behind. But then I got a disk injury. Now I cannot do deadlifts at all, and prefer to avoid the risk of aggravation that I experience with heavy squats.

Any suggestions on how to adapt the Intermediate Velocity Diet workout program to accomodate my inability to do these exercises would be appreciated. Sadly, my gym does not currently have a trap bar.

A good leg press/leg extension and low back machine/hyper extensions to failure

You can make exercise substitutions as needed, but stick with the rep/set/rest scheme as outline in the ebook.

I also have had some disc issues in the past and have started incorporating single leg reverse lunges into my routine. It definitely gets your legs pumped up and torches fat. Good luck!
