Sleep Question

#1

I started the V-Diet about a week ago and it’s otherwise going well, but I’ve not really slept well since about two days in. I’m a hard-core insomniac by birth (genetic condition causing a sleep disorder, long story don’t worry about it), but usually between the prescription and OTC stuff the doctor recommends, I can zonk out. But since starting the V-Diet, the mental acuity and chatter in my brain is stronger than the drugs.

Now it could just be me adapting to the sleep medicine, but the timing is hard to ignore. Has anyone else had this kind of experience with the V-Diet?

Sometimes when people first start a reduced-carb, lower calorie diet, sleep can be affected temporarily. Pretty common with all diets initially. Have you ever looked into <a href="http://www.t-nation.com/store/products/z-12"target=“new”>Z-12? It often outperforms prescription sleep aids for many, without the side effects.

Thanks Chris. Normally I’d give that a try, but I did a little research and found that because I’m on Paxil, I probably shouldn’t:

According to the possible interactions section, 5-HTP combined with any of the SSRIs listed, including Paxil, can trigger seratonin syndrome.

I appreciate the advice though! Thank you!
