OT's Velocity Diet Log

#1

Age: 42
Sex: Male
Day 1: 216lbs
BF%: 23.53%
Waist: 39.5"
Neck: 17"
Right Arm: 17"

I am an extreme ectomorph. If I look at a weight, I get bigger. I’ve been lifting pretty hard for a few months and have put on a ton of muscle. The problem is that I’ve put on a bit of fat as well and have barely managed to keep it in check with 3-4 days of aerobics a week. I’m ready to strip it off and see what’s under there!

I measure BF using the US Army 3-point measurement formula. I do have a computerized skinfold caliper but I found that it’s very inconsistent and tends to underestimate BF.

I worked out already this morning and am finding the shakes difficult to drink. They need milk… bad. I may have to dump a few splashes in them in order to get the taste and consistency that I need, otherwise I don’t think I’ll be able to drink these things.

Anyone have any tips on how to do this diet at work? Should I load up a couple of thermos with the powder and mix there? Or blend in the morning and take them with?

I went with two thermos and it worked really well. Shook them up in the morning and by noon they were pretty well dissolved (and still cold, too). Had to reload and shake again because all of the powder didn’t dissolve but it was pretty darn convenient having them ready when I needed them.

I’m about 24 hours in now and I stink. I can feel the same weird breath that one gets when they’re in ketosis. My head has been buzzing all day and I got really spacey a couple of hours ago. Also, my sense of smell kicked up about 10 notches… it’s like I can smell food from a mile away. Sheesh.

Day 1: 216 lbs
Day 2: 212

I stink. I woke up three times in the middle of the night from my own smell. Also, I’m peeing like a race horse all the time. But totally worth it as I dropped 4 lbs on the first day. Whoa.

Well, day 2 was a lot easier than day 1. Less spacy and tired. I notice a considerable boost in energy after drinking a shake. Looking forward to tomorrow’s weigh-in and subsequent workout.

Day 1: 216 lbs
Day 2: 212
Day 3: 210

Wow, two more pounds today. My waist has dropped to 38.75" - the smallest it’s been in about a year. BF % has dropped to 22.7% (down from almost 24% originally).

I have a business dinner tonight so solid food will be unavoidable. I will make it my weekly real food meal. We’re going to a steak place so I’m thinking a small filet, asparagus, and a glass of wine. Nothing I can do about the butter they cook it in though.

Hey, thanks for the words of encouragement. Be careful at those restaurants; drinks and bread baskets tend to be like mine fields on this diet!

Down 9 lbs so far. I think the smell is going away. Also, I was starving yesterday - worse than on any other day.

Hmmmm… three days at 207.

Don’t get hung up on the scale weight! I would weigh myself every week on an empty stomach instead of every day. Better yet, every two weeks. 9 pounds in a week is awesome but much of it may have been water stored with glycogen in your body.

Pictures and tape measurements don’t lie, so be sure to take those. Keep up the good work, sir.

Slow and steady weightloss continues. I haven’t been this light in almost two years.

Nope, I’m not hung up. I take daily measurements because I feed the data into a spreadsheet which tells me the true rate of fat loss per day.

10 lbs in 8 days is pretty damn good IMO, even if I am ravenous.

Thanks!

Down 12 lbs and lost one inch off of my waist. By body fat % has dropped from 23.95% to 22.25% (-1.7%). My lifts are still just as strong as they were although my endurance is down some. My face looks leaner and the wife says I look noticeably thinner. Still pretty hungry but it’s manageable, especially when I’m out of the house.

I had a dream last night that I was scarfing down a pizza. It seemed so real. I woke up and thought, “shit, there goes my diet.”

I can’t wait for Friday… I’m planning on having a steak dinner. Filet Mignon, veggies, and a glass or two of wine. Yahoo!

Oh, I forgot to mention that several pairs of pants are falling off of me now. I also fit into a older pair of jeans that I couldn’t get into last month.

#16

Wow… Amazing progress… keep it coming… Thanks

Weight has been stable for a few days but BF is down from 23.95% to 22.25%… 1.7% loss in about two weeks. My waist size isn’t decreasing that much, but I am fitting into jeans that I haven’t been able to squeeze into for two years.
