Heather's Log

So, I started my V-Diet yesterday. Since I was starting on a Saturday, I started off with the V-Burn Challenge. That was an awesome workout. I am used to the circuits using kettle bells and rope jumping and box jumps, etc. but that was a great workout. Tricking your body, and changing your routine is what really helps for fat loss, so I am excited.

I’m 34 and I am in the Army. I have been working out with weights for about 12 years, so this kind of training is not new to me.

My goal is to be able to see my abs, and I believe that I will be able to do it through this diet/workout plan.

My stats are as follows:

Height: 5’9"
Weight: 154
Body Fat: 15.6%

I have done all of the other measurements, but will share them at the end of this experience.

I have read through the blogs and a lot of people say that it is hard just drinking these shakes as meals everyday, but that isn’t at all how I feel. I think what has made it easier for me to transition into this diet is because for the past 6 weeks I have been doing John Berardi’s Intermittent Fasting (IF). I was doing the 24 hour a week fast. Through doing that, I have changed my thinking about food. I was really surprised about how much energy that I had without eating anything for 24 hours. So, I don’t believe that the V-Diet will be all that hard for me, but time will tell.

I’m on day 3 and feeling great. Here are my beginning measurements that I had done by a trainer at my gym.

Height/Weight: 69 in/154 lbs
Body Fat percentage: 15.6 %
Shoulder Circumference: 41 in
Chest: 35 In
Waist: 28.5 in
Abdomen: 34 in
Hips: 38.5 in
Right Bicep: 11 in
Right Forearm: 9.75 in
Right Thigh: 20 in
Right Calf: 13.75 in
Left Bicep: 11.25 in
Left Forearm: 10 in
Left Thigh: 20 in
Left Calf: 14 in

Chest: 7 mm
Midaxillary: 7.5 mm
Triceps: 18 mm
Subscapula: 8.5 mm
Abdomen: 8 mm
Suprallium: 7.5 mm
Thigh: 20 mm

So, today is day 8 of the V-Diet. I have not had any problems at all in sticking with this diet. I have done the diet as prescribed.

I have 2 HOT-ROX, and 1 Se7en upon waking up, then two more HOT-ROX, mid afternoon, along with 1 Se7en. Then the five shakes throughout the day, and the recovery shake after the weight training workouts.

My energy has not gone down at all. I preform a NEPA walk daily, strength training three times a week, and the V-Burn challenge on Saturdays. I don’t have any issues whatsoever. My body works well on these Metabolic Drive shakes.

I definitely see myself getting more lean. I am not going to get measurements done until the very end. I would rather do that, then take measurements every week. I can definitely see a difference in my clothes (getting bigger), even after 8 days.

This diet definitely works, if done like you are supposed to. I can’t wait to see the results after the full 6 weeks!!

One last thing. I had my first HSM last night. I was excited to actually be able to eat a whole food meal. I was not able to eat it all. I had half of a chicken breast, half of a sweet potato, a cucumber/onion/tomato salad, and some strawberries and pineapple for dessert.

After I was done, I realized that I wasn’t as satisfied as I thought I would be. I was glad that I was finally able to take in real food, but mentally, it wasn’t as exciting as I thought it would have been. I guess that is because mentally, I am thinking different about food. I am happy about that. I do not crave bad food, just healthy food.

Its good that your finding it easy, but you say you’ve been working out for 12 years yet your your arms measure 11 inches?

Going off your stas you sounds like a 14 yr old, i think you should be eating and lifting not trying to diet.

You may just end up looking anorexic. 5’9 and 154lbs? Daym man go and eat a meal!

Holy shit… im sorry. I just realised your a woman. :frowning: i feel bad now lol .But me thinkign you were a guy explains that!

Now i knwo yout a woman. Awesome lol

LOL, you were making me feel good for a minute…until I read the second sentence and figured that you thought I was a guy! I was about to write you back and tell you that I was a woman, but then I saw the last sentence. I don’t have much fat to loose, but my goal is to see my six pack…I know it is under this layer of fat that I am burning off!!!

No worries…

So, today is day 28. This has been a long journey, but I am so glad that I decided to do this diet. Above are before and after pics. I do not have measurements yet because I am waiting for the trainer who did my body comp the first time, to do it again.

It has been a long 28 days, and a lot of my co workers made fun of me at first for starting this diet, but were really impressed by my will power to never quit. It is hard, but to me, the shakes tasted great. It was not hard to complete the 28 days. I was hungry for the first week, but after that, it was a breeze. I actually looked forward to my shakes, not because of being hungry, but because they tasted so good.

I followed the advanced workouts, and did NEPA walks everyday, and the V-burn on Saturdays. I thought that my strength would go down a bit, due to only drinking shakes, but to my surprise, I am still as strong as I was from the beginning. I did not get stronger, but I am just glad that I didn’t get weak.

I did not deviate from the diet, and my HSM’s consisted of salmon or chicken, half of a sweet potato, a big salad, and some grapes/pineapple.
I took 2 HOT-ROX as soon as I woke up along with Se7en, then two HOT-ROX and another Se7en in the afternoon. Other than that, I drank the shakes as prescribed.

Now I have to go shopping for a new wardrobe. I can take my jeans off without even unbuttoning them.

Thank you Chris!! I am so happy that I completed this diet!

This diet has also changed my taste buds. I do not want to eat crap at all! I have a desire to only eat clean. I do not think that it will be hard for me to keep the fat off.

My goal now is to get stronger, and build muscle, as I get leaner.

Good luck to everyone else that is doing this diet. Just follow the diet exactly, and you will see amazing results!!!

damn girl you look awesome! Great job!

Thank you, I appreciate it. This diet really works if you follow it as written, that’s for sure!

We can maintain our health if we do regular exercise and take diet food. We can get this ideal high and weight if we can do proper exercise or GYM.
Height: 5’9"
Weight: 68 to 70

First of all, what is diet food? Lol! There is no such thing. There are many different types of food. Some food can be bad, if eaten at certain times, but that is all depending on your fitness goals. So Jannet, youraddition to my log makes no sense. Please refrain from posting unless you have something to say that is worth reading.

Well I just completed the transition phase of my 2nd V-diet. I completed the first one in February and had awesome results, so I wanted to do another one to lose some unwanted body fat that I got back after falling off the clean eating program. The 2nd time through was much easier, and I lost fat a lot quicker as well. I think I read a while ago on this site that muscles remember the fat loss and it is easier getting lean the second time around. Hence the phrase, “muscle memory.” Anyway, I am about 14% body fat right now. After this 2nd V-diet I feel even more repulsed by fattening foods. This diet has changed my mentality more than I had ever expected it would. The V-diet is great for losing unwanted fat at a fast pace, but I think that the way that it has changed my thinking about food is even a bigger plus.

If you are doing the V-diet right now, stick to it. It only gets easier…and if you haven’t read it…read, under Shugart’s Hammer,“Work through, not around”. If you have been complaining about the V-diet, and how hard it is, it will make you stop complaining! Chris wrote and I quote, “Oh, you don’t “prefer” the taste of Superfood? Not quite like an Oreo Blizzard at Dairy Queen? Then stay fat and die young. God forbid you have to do something you’d prefer not to do in order to reach your goal. The world does not revolve around you. There are people on this planet starving to death and you’re whining like a spoiled brat about having to drink five nutritional protein shakes every day? Boo fucking hoo. Get over yourself.
Maybe your pre-school soccer league should have kept score so you could’ve learned about accountability, reward, and hard work. Life does not give you a shiny trophy just for showing up.” Hilarious, and so true!!! That is from 2009, but thanks for posting that Chris…my thoughts exactly!

Jut re noticed this thread! awesome change, you got new pics from the second round?

I should have taken pics from the 2nd round, but didn’t. I didn’t plan on posting at all because I knew what was going to happen with my body the 2nd time around. No surprises. I wish I took pictures though. I look exactly the same as I did after the 1st V-diet.

I was reading your log as you were posting, but you haven’t posted in a while. Did you complete the diet?
