First HSM

Ok I want to make sure I’m eating the right stuff and maybe someone could suggest anything I could put in or take out that would make it taste better. But here is what I’m thinking for my first HSM:

1 grilled chicken breast
Brown rice with…
red and green peppers
1 apple

Am I allowed to used sometime of sauce or would cheese taste good with this? If so what kind? I looked through a lot of the articles in this but all the stuff was really complicated and I’m not that good of a cook, I’ll probly cook all this stuff in a frying pan.

Please help! Thanks

Double the chicken breast. Go easy on the rice. All the grilled or steamed veggies you want. A little cheese is fine. Whatever you like. The rest sounds fine.

Cook up 1 serving of rice- usually around 30-40 carbs.

Around 1/2 cup of rice so I’ve generally seen. ( note that’s uncooked measurement )

As far as sauces avoid anything with lots of sugar or flour.

Ok well the sauce I was thhinking of using was “House of Tsang-Classic Stir Fry Sauce” and here are the incredients:

Soy Sauce (Water, Soybeans, Wheat, Salt, Caramel Color), Sherry Wine, Sugar, Water, Vinegar, Modified Cornstarch, Cottonseed Oil, Sesame Seed Oil, Salt, Dried Garlic, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Dried Onions, Xanthan Gum, Natural Ginger Flavor, Disodium Inosinate and Disodium Guanylate, Less Than 1/10th of 1% Sodium Benzoate As A Preservative.

It also has 25 cal per tbs, 4g carb, 3 g sugar, and .5 g fat…is that ok? or should I just use cheese?

sauces that are tasty and virtually calorie free

pretty much any hot sauce TBH ie, tobasco, louisianas hot sauce, franks red hot xxx, etc

yellow mustard

spicy brown mustard

soy sauce

some ketchups i’ve seen have even less sugar than the sauce you described.

look for sauces with few ingredients and like corj said, no sugars/carbs.

The sauce you suggested doesn’t seem to bad, it’s just i’ve noticed that when it comes to sauces, you always want to put more than a tablespoon or two,a and it starts to add up. Think about it this way you have two tbls of your sauce and you have half of tablespoon of sugar (it’s 1:4 ratio for that particular sauce).
