Biotest

Extra Supplements: A Guide

#1

The <a href="http://www.t-nation.com/programs/vdiet30/vDietProgram000.jsp"target=“new”>Velocity Diet 3.0 requires six Biotest supplements:

Metabolic Drive, Low-Carb
HOT-ROX Extreme
Surge Recovery
Flameout
Superfood
L-Leucine

… plus milled flax seeds (any brand is fine.)

However, one of the most common questions we get is, “Can I add this or that extra supplement? And if I can, how do I incorporate it?”

I’ve put together this guide to help answer the most common questions about additional supplements. But keep this in mind, you can have great success on the V-Diet with only the required supplements above.

Still, here’s a guide to the most common ancillary product choices.

Tribex Gold

Many men, like Coach <a href=“http://www.t-nation.com/readArticle.do?id=1295181"new”>Dan John, like to add a T-booster to their V-Diet arsenal. Since HOT-ROX Extreme (required supplement) contains Carbolin-19 and so does the powerful T-booster Alpha Male, I suggest TRIBEX Gold instead, taken according to label recs.

Creatine

  1. Don’t start creatine during the V-Diet. It’s not that it’s “bad,” it’s that it causes water retention and makes monitoring scale results tricky, especially if loading.

  2. If already using creatine, you can continue to use it at 3-5 grams after weight training only. Again, no need to load.

  3. When choosing creatine, never use those carb/sugar-filled creatine products. Choose a high quality, powdered, pure creatine product like <a href="http://www.T-Nation.com/readArticle.do?id=1075898"target=“new”>Biotest German Creatine.

  4. The best way to use creatine is to add it to your post-workout Surge Recovery drink.

Z-12

Any major change in diet or training can lead to difficulty sleeping. The body usually adapts in a few days, but if you choose to add a sleep aide, try Z-12. In my experience:

1 tablet = general anxiety reduction and relaxation-inducing
2 tablets = deep, restful sleep
3 tablets = zombie sleep, super deep, but still restful

#5

ZMA

3 tablets before bed.

#6

REZ-V

3 tablets upon waking.

#7

Se7en

Although it’s now marketed toward females, it works for men too.

#8

Fiber Choice

The typical V-Diet gives you around 25 grams of fiber per day, which is the recommended amount. If you’re a few grams short, you can pick up some sugar-free Fiber Choice tablets.

Note: The average American is said to get only about 15g per day of fiber, so jumping quickly to 25 may be too much for some people. Better to work your way up.

#9

Receptormax

Recommended Use: Take 6 capsules per day. Do not exceed recommended use.

Training days: Take 1 capsule 3 times per day, 30 minutes prior to meals, and 3 capsules 30 minutes prior to working out.

Non-Training days: Take 2 capsules 3 times per day, 30 minutes prior to meals.

Chris,
This whole thing is great. Thank you.

I have been taking Biotest Rhodiala Rosea, one of my favorite supplements off all time now. Any contraindications to use this while on V-diet. Also, any chance Biotest is bringing back Maximum Strength HOT-ROX or non-stimulant version.

Thanks

Hi there!!!

So i am super excited about starting the V-Diet. But there are several problems.

Here in spain we dont have a wide array of Biotest products.

I cant get my hands on: Superfood and L-Leucine.

is there anyway i could substitute? I cant order from outside spain, because its not allowed due to customs restrictions in food and supplements.

I saw some aminoacids blends that contain like 2g of L-Leucine. Should i simply double it up and take it?

What about Superfood?

Thanks a lot

Rhodiala Rosea should be fine to add to the V-Diet, if you want.

I have no info concerning your other question.

Superfood and L-Leucine should be fine for importation, but contact Biotest customer service and check.

Hey Chris. Had great success w/ diet 2.0 and was looking to shed a few more pounds w/ 3.0. On workout days are we able to use Surge Workout Fuel? I love that stuff and always find my workouts to be a lot stronger with it. It’s only 85 cals for the one serving…can a small amount of Post workout Surge Recovery be cut out to compensate for the Surge Workout Fuel pre-workout?

Adding in Surge Workout Fuel just hasn’t been tested out much with the V-Diet. We know for sure the diet works as written though. So it’s up to you. Surge Workout Fuel is great stuff, no doubt. As long as you compensate for the added calories, then I’d guess it would be fine.

What about BCAA´s?

Surge Recovery and L-Leucine are all you need. No need for extra BCAA.

I have similar problems as reesemortensen! Im from Slovenia (middle Europe) and our fitness stores dont have Biotest products! is there any possibility to use any other product and get the same results or is Biotest really that different? Im not asking about names, I just want to know what to look for when searching for products which could do the same job?

Thak you

Those who use different products fail or get poor results.

Read the info page for each Biotest product. Most of the time, there just aren’t similar products. Oh sure, you can get “protein powder” and a “fat burner” elsewhere, but that’s usually like saying since both a 2009 Lexus and a 1972 Ford Pinto are both cars with wheels and doors and transmissions, they’re “the same thing.” Um, not quite.

(1972 Pintos are the ones that blew up during minor fender benders, BTW.)

Look, I don’t like seeing people talk about how the V-Diet “didn’t work.” Why? Because if you ask them a few questions, you soon learn that they didn’t train correctly and, most importantly, they didn’t use the right supplements. In other words, they weren’t really even on the V-Diet.

There is a clear pattern to those who don’t succeed with the diet. Step one to failure: use non-Biotest products.

Again, I’ve been watching that pattern occur for close to four years. And I WANT you to succeed.

My suggestion to all people who can’t get Biotest supplements is to choose another diet from the T-Muscle archives.

Chris,
I will be starting the V-Diet 3.0 in Monday. Can I continue supplementing AAKG twice a day while on the diet? Thanks in advance.
