And so it begins. My mission to get back on track.

Let’s start with a little background.

My wife and I got married in 2004 and weighed in at a skinny 165. Living together for real was great. I found T-Nation and I tried to stayed focused, but put on some unneeded weight, in my goal to put muscle on. The weight addition really started to spiral out of control for the worst when my wife and I bought our first home in May 2007. Then my wife gave birth to our beautiful daughter in August 2007. Then in May 2008, I get a text message with the results of a pregnancy test. Opps, we did it again. Our son was then born in January 2009.

During this time from 2004-present, my career has also taken off. I went from a field job to a desk job, 10+ hours a day on the computer. Don’t get me wrong, I love my work, it just has planted me in a chair all day.

The above events are no excuse, I should have prioritized things a bit better. But now I must start fresh again to get healthy for the family.

So here it goes…

People often ask “What happened?!” when they look in the mirror one day and realize that they’ve gotten out of shape. The answer is usually “Life happens.”

Cool thing is, once they get back into it, the career and family person is often the most dedicated and gets the best results with their training and diet. (As a bonus, it’s really fun to be the only buff dad or hot mom at the school play.)

Keep us updated!

Starting pictures of fattie.

Not very happy to see these. Big difference from just looking in the mirror.

I did some searching and found that it could be because of the HOT-ROX on an empty stomach. I will take the next one mid-shake and report back.

I also did a search for chewing gum but did not find an answer (probably missed it). I think that this may help me and take my mind off of the nausea.

The gum that I have here is Trident sugarless gum, 3.5 calories, 1g of sugar alcohol. Thoughts on 1-2 sticks a day?

Hi to you…
The nauseaous feeling goes away after 3-4 days…Hang in there!

I’ve heard of other people chewing gum, sugar free. I dont know if it’s officially acceptable or not but if it keeps you on the diet and you’re not eating 50 cals worth of gum (eek), then I’d go for it.

Even people who are not taking the Hot-Rox experience this horrible flu like feeling for a few days, especially those that ate crappy for the last however long. For me it was a combo of both. Try going off them for a day and then working up to them, 1 in the am, 1 in the early afternoon, then 2 in am, 1 in early afternoon, and then finally 2 am 2 early afternoon as prescribed by the V-Diet. Worked for me.

At any rate, good job sticking with it through the hardest week. It does get better. Sooner than you think.

1 HOT-ROX mid way through Shake 1
Shake 2
Shake 3
Shake X (2 protein, flax seed, super food, leucine, peanut butter)

I was short today another 3 protein scoops. I was so full and just could not do it, again.

Is this bad? Am I going to lose muscle mass from being so short on calories?

Drink it all, even when you’re full and feel like you will explode. Make it thin, drink half now half later, whatever you have to do to get it all in.

Hi Machine,
I’m sure the first few days are the hardest so stick with it. I’m starting tomorrow…a little nervous, but more excited than anything. The one product that I have taken before out of all the ones that are sitting on my kitchen counter right now is HOT-ROX, and I felt the same nausea at first. I also felt a real increase in my heart rate while working out on them, but it was only like that for the first week or so. Hang in there.

I have been ‘strong’ so far and have not chewed any gum.

Thanks for the support. I think that the nausea has passed, for now. Now I am struggling with my mental and just being able to drink the shakes. I think that I have worked it out though. Instead of sipping it over a long time, I am now chugging it in about 3 gulps.

I am going to put HOT-ROX back into my diet tomorrow, but in the middle of a shake. I hope all goes well, we are having some people over the house tomorrow!

Shake 1
Shake 2 with 1 HOT-ROX.
Shake 3

Feeling a bit nauseous on the HOT-ROX. Drinking some water to keep it down!

Today we are having friends over for dinner and I was able to help my wife cook and not be tempted to snack.
